High level abstraction for data virtualization

Data Virtualization

Today’s analytics environments are characterized by a high degree of heterogeneity, both in terms of data management systems, data formats and types of analysis. There are SQL and no SQL stores, structured, semi- and un-structured data and different analytics frameworks.

Data Virtualization, which provides users with a virtual data layer over the data infrastructure of the organization, seems as a promising technology to bring order in this chaotic situation.

Data Mingler

DataMingler is a tool that enables collaborative end-to-end processing in analytics environments, by providing all data stakeholders with a simple, graph-based, conceptual data layer (a data virtual machine), built on-demand, agilely. This data virtualization approach is very different from current techniques, which implement in most cases a virtual relational model.

By using a high level abstraction for data virtualization, users deal with entities and attributes, concepts that most people are familiar with. Besides being simple, a conceptual model offers schema agility, is amenable to visual interfaces for schema and query management, and allows model polymorphism (can be easily concretized to other logical models).
